The 50th CIRP Conference on Manufacturing Systems (CMS) was held by Feng Chia University on 3rd -5th May, 2017 in the Lin Hotel, Taichung City, Taiwan. The grand opening ceremony was held at the Assembly Hall in Taichung City Hall. The conference has attracted 250 participants, including 150 participants abroad from more than 20 countries and 100 local participants, with more than 130 papers published.

  • The chairman of the conference is Prof. Mitchell M. Tseng, the Dean of International School of Technology and Management, Feng Chia University. He owns a highly-respected academic status in the field of industrial engineering and manufacturing engineering, and has been elected as the CIRP fellow. Dean Tseng has been active in promoting industrial manufacturing in Taiwan academically and industrially. Under his utmost effort, the 50th CIRP Conference on Manufacturing Systems (CMS) is held in Taiwan for the first time. There is a chance for exchange on the latest research outcomes between international institutions and local institutions, as well as to lift the academic, industrial reputation and visibility of Taiwan internationally.
  • The theme of the 50th CIRP Conference on Manufacturing Systems (CMS) is Manufacturing Systems 4.0 (Intellectual Manufacturing Systems 4.0). Scholars and researchers from the international academic institutions came to Taiwan to join the grand event. Feng Chia University hopes to present and showcase the findings and outcomes of Taiwan intellectual manufacturing to the participants worldwide. The conference also invited three experts and scholars to talk and share on how to promote Intellectual Manufacturing Systems 4.0, they are Prof. László Monostori of Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Budapest , Prof. Neil Duffie from the University of Wisconsin, U.S.A., and Dr. Kou-I Szu, Senior Executive Vice President, HIWIN Technologies Corp. The conference lasted for three days, included paper presentation sessions and keynote speeches. During the third afternoon, participants were arranged to join one of the plant tours to Awea Mechantronic Co., Ltd., Giant Bicycles, Hiwin Technologies Corp., which enabled foreigners to know the current status of the industrial development in Taiwan better, this had an strong effect in lifting up the visibility of domestic industries.
