UNSW's Prof. Stephen Goddard Visits ISTM, Leads Delegation to Taipei YODEX and Hosts Exclusive Student Workshops

Prof. Stephen Goddard, Deputy Head of School (Education) and Program Director of the Bachelor of Design at the School of Art & Design, University of New South Wales (UNSW), is conducting an official visit to the International School of Technology and Management(ISTM) from May 21st to May 27th. The visit aims to strengthen academic partnerships and bring global perspectives to the institution's design education.

During his visit, Prof. Goddard engaged in highly productive discussions with the leadership and academic teams of ISTM. He met with Dean Chiu, Vice Dean Chien, CEO Kris, Deputy Director of the Design Program Tim Ryan, and the esteemed faculty team. The dialogues centered on future trends in design education, curriculum development, and ongoing transnational academic collaboration.

A major highlight of the itinerary took the academic exchange beyond the campus. From May 22nd to May 23rd, Prof. Goddard, alongside faculty members Tim Ryan and Simon Richards, led a delegation of 11 outstanding students from the Design Program to the Taipei Young Designers' Exhibition (YODEX)—one of Asia's most prestigious student design events. Recognizing the importance of international academic exchange, the YODEX organizing team graciously arranged an exclusive VIP tour for the visiting delegation. Through this guided experience, students not only witnessed the creative energy of Taiwan's emerging young designers but also gained invaluable industry insights guided by a global design expert.

The momentum of this academic exchange will continue back on campus. From May 25th to May 27th, Prof. Goddard will host a series of design workshops and interactive sessions exclusively for students of the program. This presents a rare opportunity for students to engage directly with a leading design education expert from a top-tier global university, allowing them to deepen their professional skills and ignite innovative thinking.

This visit not only solidifies the strong ties between ISTM and top-tier global universities but also successfully builds a bridge for students, connecting academic theory with the real-world design industry on an international scale.
