ISTM FCU-Purdue Undergraduate Dual Degree Program Students’ Lunch Session with the President of Purdue University

President Dr. Bing-Jean Lee, Chair Professor Mitchell M. Tseng, Dean of ISTM, Associate Prof. Eric Kuo-Hao Tang, formed a group of 17 included Associate Dean of ISTM Associate Prof. Shaw-Jyh Shin, FCU-Purdue Undergraduate Dual Degree Program and students to attend the welcoming wine reception for Mitchell E. Daniels Jr., President of Purdue University who has been twice Governor of Indiana, at Grand Hyatt Taipei on Oct 28.
- President Daniels introduced the academic strengths and learning environment of Purdue University in the reception. Purdue University is a renowned university in the United States with a history of 148 years and 6 campuses. The main campus is located in Lafayette, Indiana, with a student population of nearly 40,000. The university is famous for its College of Engineering, which makes it one of the top institutions in engineering. In addition, the university has the most numbers of international students amongst the states. Dean Tseng and Associate Dean Tang are both alumni of Purdue. There are many prestigious alumni of Purdue in Taiwan who attended the reception.
- A freshman of the program said, “The meeting is truly an eye-opener to me, I have better understanding about Purdue University through interactions with Indian-accented professor, authentic American-accented president, and Taiwanese alumni who venture in business or in various fields. Apart from that, I also learned how to interact with people in a formal occasion. It is my honor to attend such an event”.
- During the reception, President Lee, Dean Tseng, and Associate Dean Tang had a great time with President Daniels. Students of the Purdue program showed their respects to President Daniels, and consulted others alumni in Taiwan.
