Before Arrival

Apply for a Visa to enter Taiwan

Students applying from abroad who have received a formal letter of admission from FCU should apply for aResident Visa (for studying longer than 6 months) to enter Taiwan at the nearest R.O.C embassy, consulate, or representative agency in their country. Please note that holders of a Visitor Visa may not apply for a Resident Visa or an extension of duration of stay on the ground of undertaking studies, so make sure you have applied for the right VISA at the beginning!

 

Required Documents

  • A completed application form with two passport-size color photos taken within the last 6 months
  • A passport valid for at least 6 months and a photocopy of it (the passport should have enough empty pages)
  • An admission letter issued by FCU
  • Proof of financial support
  • Any other documents required by the college, university, or language center
  • Application fee

 

After Arrival

Alien Resident Certificate (ARC)

Resident Visa holders are required to apply for an Alien Resident Certificate and Re-entry Permit within 15 days after their arrival. They may stay in the R.O.C. as long as their Alien Resident Certificate remains valid.

 

Required Documents

  • A completed application form
  • Passport with a valid Resident Visa (Original and 1 photocopy)
  • Student ID card and Admission Letter (original and a photocopy).
  • One passport-sized color photo taken within the last 6 months
  • Application fee: 1000 NTD for 1 year validity
  • Health certificate-dated within the last 3 months

From the Airport

There are four international airports in Taiwan: Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, in Taoyuan city (about 40km from Taipei city); Taipei Songshan Airport; Taichung Airport, located in the central part of Taiwan; and Kaohsiung International Airport, located in southern Taiwan. Most international flights land at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport where you will normally arrive. After you arrive the Taoyuan International Airport, present your travel documents to immigration officer. Proceed to the baggage reclaim area to retrieve your baggage. Change money at the bank in airport. Apply a prepaid phone card: you can apply the prepaid phone card in the airport with valid passport if you are older than 20. You have to show the valid ARC and passport to buy a prepaid phone card out of the International Airport.

 

Direction to FCU

Long Distance Highway Buses

Highway buses go to Taichung City directly. When you buy a ticket, please mention you want to go to “Chaoma”. You can ask the bus driver to remind you when arrived at “Chaoma”. It takes about 2 hours to Taichung City by bus.

Bus Information

Ticket counters are located in the arrival passenger reception areas of both terminals, T1 & T2. You can also refer toTaoyuan Airport's Website for details on fares and where to take the buses.

  • Terminal 1 Bus Platform: B1 level of the arrival passenger reception area.
  • Terminal 2 Bus Platform: 1st floor of the northeast side of the arrival passenger reception area.
