Air

Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (IATA: TPE, ICAO: RCTP) in Taoyuan City is the largest airport in Taiwan. It is about 1.5-hour drive from Taichung City. You may take high speed rail or highway bus from Taoyuan Airport for getting to Taichung. There are also several airlines that fly directly to Taichung International Airport (IATA: RMQ, ICAO: RCMQ) from Hong Kong, several locations in Mainland China and a few other countries in Asia.

Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR)

Taichung, located in central Taiwan, has the advantage of connecting North and South of Taiwan in an easy distance of less than one hour by High Speed Rail. The THSR would be an option if you wish to save time. Shuttle buses to FCU are available from Taichung THSR Station.

Highway Bus

A more economic option would be the highway bus. Most of these services have extensive networks and frequent service schedules. From FCU to the nearest highway bus depot, it takes about 15 minutes by city bus.

Train

Traveling by train is yet another economic option. You can sit back and enjoy the pastoral scenery outside the window while you travel. From FCU to Taichung Train Station, it takes about 20 to 30 minutes by city bus.

City Bus

The city bus is a great mode of transportation to travel within the city. The bus network in Taichung covers more than 200 routes at low cost and with frequent services. Passengers using an EasyCard can enjoy a free ride for traveling under 10 km. For over 10 km, fares will be applied with a fare cap of NT$60 (approx. US$2) per trip. Real-time bus information is available via website or mobile APP.

Bicycle, Scooter, Motorcycle, Car

Touring around the city can be done on your bicycle, scooter (moped), motorcycle or car. In Taiwan, riding a scooter is a common mode of navigating through town.

YouBike

YouBike is an urban bike-sharing network in several cities in Taiwan. There are currently more than 200 rental stations in Taichung. It is a fun and eco-friendly way to explore the city. You will need an EasyCard for bike rental.

EasyCard

An EasyCard is a 'touch-and-go' smartcard ticketing system for most of the transportation services (including city buses and YouBike), designated car parks, stores and government agencies in Taiwan. You may purchase and top up the card in all major convenience stores. As a student in FCU, you will get a Student ID Card which is also an EasyCard.
