Derek Tong, FCU-RMIT Program
Hi, this is Derek. As a matter of fact, I am currently a junior because when I was a freshman, I majored in BIBA at FCU. At that time, I found my goal after finishing a semester at last. Therefore, after that I applied for transferring to ISTM’s RMIT program without having credit transfer. At first, my parents and I were doubtful about whether it is worth wasting a year of time, but now, I am sure that my decision was right.
In ISTM, I met good teachers who gave me treasurable opinions on my path. In ISTM, I found the value of myself.
Time flies. There are only several months to go. I cannot believe that I have made great changes of myself. When I first entered this program, I just wanted to become a high-school teacher after graduation from RMIT, but now I dare aim higher – to become a professor. But for the teachers I met here, I would not dare to dream that big. When I have this goal, ISTM and professors give me a lot of opportunities to train me and equip me with the necessary abilities to become a professor.
In order to upgrade my own value to enhance the competitiveness in Melbourne, I need to improve all-round abilities such as English and communication skills.
Perhaps, you do not have a goal right now and study for no purpose. Perhaps you do not know what you want to do in the future or even what you want to major. If so, you can first discover your value, or think about what you want. Once you have a certain goal, you will spare no effort to achieve it.
