The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics employment projections indicates that the science and engineering-related job opportunity is expected to increase 853,600 (11.7%) more jobs between 2016 to 2026. Electrical engineering covers a wide range of applications, including electronics, power, information, communications, control, telecommunications, semiconductors, optoelectronics, medical engineering, biotechnology, etc. In other words, semiconductor engineer, electronics engineer, process engineer, IC packaging engineer, software engineer, etc. are all possible career options.

 

According to 2019 U.S. News & World Report, Electrical Engineering ranks 5th among the top 10 majors with the highest starting salaries. San Jose State University (SJSU) is the only public comprehensive university near Palo Alto, which makes it become Silicon Valley's number one source of graduates.
